VMOS Edge FAQ
This guide is designed to help you quickly resolve common technical issues when using VMOS Edge.
Installation and Startup
Q1: On macOS, why do I see “VMOS Edge 2.0 can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software”?

Solution:
- Due to macOS system security, the first time you open an app downloaded outside the App Store, the system requires extra confirmation.
- Go to System Settings → Security & Privacy, then click “Open Anyway” for VMOS Edge. After that, it can be launched normally.

This operation is only needed once. You will not be prompted again later.
Q2: Windows installer prompts “Administrator privileges required”, what should I do?
Solution:
- Right‑click the installation package file
- Select “Run as administrator”
Q3: Antivirus software blocks installation, what should I do?
Solution:
- Temporarily disable the antivirus software’s real‑time protection
- Add the VMOS Edge installation package to the antivirus software’s whitelist
- Run the installer again
📂 1. Cloud Phone Creation and System Configuration
Q: The cloud phone prompts that “Google services” need to be enabled. How do I operate?
A:
- New instances: When creating a cloud phone, directly check the “Enable GMS” option.
- Existing instances: Enter the cloud phone’s “Extension Tools” and manually enable “Google Framework Services”.
Note: The system has been optimized. After enabling and restarting the cloud phone, the service will remain enabled and does not need to be repeatedly toggled.
Q: How do I change the device model of a cloud phone?
A:
- Virtual machines: You can modify parameters directly in “Extension Tools”.
- Cloud real devices: Due to hardware‑level limitations, changing parameters in Extension Tools may not take effect. In this case, be sure to use “One‑Click New Machine” to simulate a new device.
Q: How can I quickly create multiple cloud phones with the same configuration?
A: Use the “Cloud Machine Cloning” feature. It fully copies the current instance’s system environment, installed apps, and configuration, enabling fast batch deployment.
💾 2. Hardware Host and Storage Management
Q: The client shows disk capacity as 0 or fails to recognize the disk. What should I do?
Solution:
- On the client, perform “Reset Host” for the corresponding device.
- Run the “Format Disk” process.
- If the disk is still not recognized, physically re‑seat the SSD and ensure the connector is firmly plugged in.
Q: What are the SSD requirements for VMOS Edge?
A:
- Physical spec: Only NVMe‑protocol M.2 2280 SSDs are supported.
- Interface compatibility: Compatible with NVMe 2.0 / 3.0 / 4.0.
- File system: The system uses
ext4format uniformly.
Q: What is the difference between cloud real devices and virtual machines?
A:
- Cloud real devices: Encapsulated based on real hardware environments with very high simulation fidelity. Suitable for businesses that require strong anti‑ban capability and are sensitive to compatibility.
- Virtual machines: Android environments built on open‑source virtualization. More suitable for general development, debugging, and ordinary testing.
🌐 3. Network Connectivity and Proxy Settings
Q: The host appears “Offline”. How should I troubleshoot?
A:
- Check IP: After host reboot or cable re‑plug, its IP may change. Confirm that the current host IP matches what the client shows.
- Check connectivity: On a PC in the same network, open CMD/Terminal and run
ping [host IP]. If it fails, check the physical network connection.
Q: The host is assigned a 10.xxx subnet IP and cannot be connected. What should I do?
A: This is caused by a factory preset static IP. Please reset as follows:
- Disconnect: Power on the device and unplug the network cable.
- Wait: Wait until the screen shows “Not Net!”.
- Reconnect: Plug the network cable back in and wait for the router to reassign a normal LAN IP.
Q: Proxy is configured but apps cannot access the internet, or proxy checks fail?
Solution:
- About check results: The check mechanism is provided by a third party; even if the check fails, you can still try saving and using the proxy.
- Manual verification: Use the
curlcommand on your PC to verify that the proxy server itself is reachable. - Parameter validation: Carefully confirm IP, port, username, and password. For overseas proxies, cross‑border firewalls may cause connection failures.
🛠️ 4. Version Updates and Troubleshooting
Q: It prompts “Current image version is too low and cannot be imported”. What should I do?
A: VMOS Edge 2.0 does not support old images from version 1.0. Please refer to the Image Release History documentation and download the latest images compatible with the 2.0 architecture.
Q: The cloud phone status shows “Failed” and cannot be operated. What should I do?
A: This is usually caused by an abnormal underlying container.
- Do not forcibly restart or shut down the instance.
- Solution: Please contact technical support so backend engineers can restart the corresponding Docker container.
Q: Does VMOS Edge 2.0 support automatic CBS updates?
A: Currently it does not support automatic CBS updates. To upgrade, please download the latest installation package from the official website and perform a manual overwrite installation.
